34 Finnish and Hungarian towns met in Eger this week. There were guests from Kemi the sister city of Szekesfehervar too: they spent the day in our city.
The Finnish and the Hungarian sister cities organise a conference in every third year to share their experiences with each other and to work out new opportunities for cooperation. 52 Hungarian cities are twinned with Finnish cities. Szekesfehervar has been twinned with Kemi for many decades.
Mr. Tamas VARGHA city councillor of the department of international relations at Szekesfehervar showed the delegation around in the City Hall. The participants of the XIth Finnish-Hungarian twin city conference discussed energy saving and environment friendly district heat supply, safeguarding of public health, old care, but they have discussed art management techniques on the Internet as well. Before their visit to the city hall, the guests from Kemi had met the Finnish master coach of Alba Volán 19 too.
Mr. Jukka VILEN the chief executive of the Municipality of Kemi said that “among other things the operation of the institutions managed by the local authorities was also discussed”. In the evening, the delegates have also visited the celebration of the Hungarian Armed Forces in the Vorosmarty Theatre.
